Back in the Newell Field House after its spring training trip to Florida, the St. Lawrence men's tennis team returned to form with a sweep of doubles en route to a 7-2 win over the Oneonta Red Dragon on Saturday afternoon.
The pairs of Robert Schmitz and Paul Barrett, Rhonny Rosario and Elliot Solandt and John Megas and Will Ballew each grabbed wins in doubles to put the Saints in front 3-0 out of the gate.
Schmitz and Barrett battled to a 9-7 win in the first spot, while Rosario and Solandt earned an 8-6 win at second doubles. Megas and Ballew completed the sweep without dropping a game, shutting out the Red Dragon duo 8-0 in the third spot.
Both Schmitz and Barrett were also winners in singles for St. Lawrence as Schmitz downed Benjamin Leighton at three 6-1, 6-0, while Barrett took down Ryohei Nakamura 6-0, 6-2. The other singles wins came from Will Kauppila (6-1, 6-0) and Kevin Frommer (6-1, 6-2) at five and six, respectively.
