Saints men's squash team edges Navy 5-4 to make consolation finals

The U.S. Naval Academy won the matches at one and two , but St. Lawrence won five of the next seven to record a 5-4 victory in the College Squash Association team national consolation semifinals at Harvard on Saturday morning.

The Saints will meet Middlebury College, a 5-4 winner over Bates, in the consolation finals at Belmont Hill Sunday at 2 p.m.

Allan Lutz of Navy turned back Alex Dodge 3-0 at one and Hunter Bouchard won a marathon with Amay Merchant 3-2 at two, coming from 2-1 down to win with 11-8 and 11-9 scores in games four and five. Vir Seth won for the Saints at three, dropping game one to William Abrams, but coming back with 12-10, 11-9 and 11-2 wins to take the match.

Hunter Beck beat Jermaine Xaba in five, coming back from two down to win to match, but Will Compo won 3-0 over John Richey at five and Tyler Stout edged Thomas McNamara 3-1 at six, dropping game one 12-10 before winning out with scores of 12-10, 11-6 and 11-5. Brad Seidel beat Michael Badali 3-0 at seven, but Thoma Kraft came back from a 0-2 deficit to win with 11-5, 11-8, 11-6 game scores in a key match against David Koenig at eight and Russell Woeltz beat Clayton Young 3-0, all by 11-9 scores, at nine to close out the match.
