Three power play goals and two late third-period tallies helped Harvard to a 5-0 shutout of the St. Lawrence men's hockey team on Friday night at the Bright-Landry Hockey Center in Boston, Mass.

With the loss, the Saints fall to 7-22-2 overall and 3-15-1 in ECAC Hockey contests, while Harvard improves to 12-10-4 and 10-6-3 against conference opponents.

It is the third time this season the Saints have been shut out, though prior to Friday the last time they were blanked in back to back games was January 27-28, 2012 during the 2011-12 season.

Harvard was led by defenseman Adam Fox who recorded a hat trick and had two of the Crimson's three power play goals against the Saints.

Early in the second, with the Saints on the kill after a protocol penalty to start the period, Arthur Brey made a huge sprawling save to rob Harvard's Lewis Zerter-Gossage on the doorstep to keep the game tied at 0-0.

At the end of that penalty kill, first-year forward Eddie Pavlini, fresh out of the box, manufactured what was the Saints' best scoring chance at that point in the game after intercepting a pass in the defensive zone to spring himself into Harvard territory one-on-one. His wrister from the circle was saved with the left pad by the Crimson's Michael Lackey.

Later in the period, Brey robbed Zerter-Gossage again with a left shoulder save off a two-on-one rush for the Crimson following a turnover at the St. Lawrence blue line with just over seven and a half remaining in the frame. But it was at the next stoppage in play that the Saints found themselves on a five-minute penalty kill following a major hitting from behind and game misconduct call against Alex Gilmour.

After successfully killing the most of the first three minutes, Ryan Garvey was sent off for interference at 15:05, giving Harvard 2:17 of a five-on-three man advantage.

Less than a minute later, at the 16:01 mark of the middle frame, Fox scored his first of the season and first of the game to put Harvard in front 1-0 on the five-on-three. He extended the lead to 2-0 with his second power play goal of the night just 49 seconds later.

In the third period, Reilly Walsh scored the third power play goal of the game for the Crimson at 5:39. Henry Bowlby then pushed the margin to 4-0 at the 14:24 mark before Fox closed out the scoring at 18:15.

The last two Harvard goals came against the Saints' first-year netminder Cameron Gray, who made his collegiate debut in relief of Brey, playing the final six minutes of the game. He finished with four saves, while Brey recorded 30 in the loss as the tandem combined for 34 stops Friday night.

Harvard finished with a 39-16 shot advantage. Defensemen Matt Purmal and Cameron White led the Saints with four blocked shots apiece, while the Saints blocked 17 total as a team.

St. Lawrence will play its final regular season road game on Saturday night at Dartmouth in Hanover, New Hampshire. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m.
