St. Lawrence University junior Ryan Flynn shot a three-over-par 74 to finish tied for eighth after the first day of competition at the Duke Nelson Invitational, hosted by Middlebury College at the Ralph Myhre Golf Course on Saturday afternoon.

Flynn's round was his lowest thus far this season and the second time he has finished three over par for a round. He was also +3 on Day 2 of the St. Lawrence Invitational, but shot a 75 as the Oliver D. Appleton Golf Course is a par 72. He will start Day 2 four strokes behind Skidmore's Mackenzie Nelson, who has a one-stroke lead after shooting 70 on Day 1.

John Lauria and Andrew Kimbell both shot 80s for St. Lawrence, while William Hayden shot an 81 and Davis Frame shot an 82.

The Saints are tied for 13th with Springfield and UMass Dartmouth after combining for a 315 on Day 1. Skidmore leads the 22-team tournament with 296 strokes.

St. Lawrence will wrap up play in the tournament on Sunday, with players scheduled to tee off at 9 a.m.
