St. Lawrence University sophomore Taber Engelken posted his first career top-15 showing on Friday in the giant slalom at the 2015 University of Vermont Carnival at Mt. Mansfield in Stowe, VT. The Shelburne, VT native was 13th overall, 17 places better than his previous career-best finish, and led the men's alpine squad to fifth place in the team standings.

Engelken's second run time of 1:04.94 was 13th-fastest and helped him climb from 26th position after the opening run. Kei Kullberg followed with his first top-20 finish at St. Lawrence in 20th place, while Hayes Graham closed out the scoring in 31st. The trio combined for 66.0 points, good for a tie with Williams College for fifth.

Nick Stenicka (37th) and Daniel Martin (DNF) also competed in the men's GS, which was won by the hosting Catamounts. The individual champion was Middlebury's Robert Cone.

The St. Lawrence women's alpine team saw three of its top competitors post DNF's on Friday, including Allison Visconti, Sydney Henegan and Maria Hillenbrand. The trio of Amie Lonza, Alita Rogers and Kalen Griffin combined for 36.0 points, which was 10th overall.

Lonza was the top Saints finisher in 33rd place, followed closely by Rogers in 35th. Griffin capped the scoring in 43rd. The women's GS individual champion was Dartmouth's Foreste Peterson, who led the Big Green to the team crown as well.

The St. Lawrence alpine teams will be in action again tomorrow, Saturday, January 24 in the slalom at the UVM Carnival.
