St. Lawrence University rookie linebacker Alec Dietsch and senior defensive lineman Obi Nwaigwe were honored at the 2014 Eastern College Athletic Conference Football Awards Banquet on March 27 at MetLife Stadium, home of Super Bowl XLVIII, in East Rutherford, NJ. Dietsch was named the conference's Defensive Rookie of the Year, while Nwaigwe was a First Team North All-Star.

Dietsch, the reigning Liberty League Rookie of the Year, was third in tackles in the conference with 81 and was fourth in tackles per game (8.1). The Clarence, NY native also had three interceptions and 8.0 tackles for a loss, helping to shore up the Saints defense and turn them into one of the best in the region allowing a mere 16.4 points per game.

"We are very proud of Alec, as he was a tremendous contributor to our team in his first season of college football," said St. Lawrence head coach Mark Raymond. "He has a very promising future here."

Nwaigwe's breakout season has landed the Valley Stream, NY native numerous awards and accolades. A BSN First Team All-America selection, he was Second Team All-East Region and a First Team All-Conference choice as well. Nwaigwe finished the 2013 regular season in the top-5 for both tackles for a loss and sacks, closing with 25.5 and 12.5, respectively.

"Obi had an exceptional senior season," said Coach Raymond. "He was a factor in every game we played and was a huge part of our success in 2013."
