The St. Lawrence University volleyball team closed out the Steven's Institute of Technology Quad Saturday, finishing 2-1 on the weekend.

The Saints move to 15-7 on the season.

"Though had an efficient offense today against John Jay college, we continue to make far too many service errors," Coach Shelly Roiger said.  "Until we can discipline ourselves in that area of play we will continue to hand points away, which we cannot afford to do."

In the first game of the day, the Saints swept Mount St. Vincent, 25-20, 25-13, 25-8.

Though the Dolphins were able to keep it close in the first set, the Saints came out on top.  The second match was highlighted by a service run by Kayla Twardzik.  The sophomore defensive specialist had three aces.

After taking the second set, the Saints continued to cruise to a 3-0 sweep as they started the third set on a 13 point run led by junior Nyasha Miller.  Miller finished with 5 service aces.

Senior Jordyn Buzza and junior Liz Grogan led the Saints offense with nine kills each, followed by junior Marta Johann with eight kills.  Senior Abby Rose contributed 33 assists.

St. Lawrence gathered 13 service aces as team against the Dolphins.

The Saints battled the invitational host in the second match of the day, falling to Steven's Institute of Technology 3-1 (22-25, 25-19, 17-25, 15-25).

Miller contributed a team-high 14 kills and 11 digs while Rose had 29 assists and 15 digs.  Grogan had 11 kills, recording a .276 hitting percentage.

The Saints were able to bounce back from the loss in the third game against John Jay College, dominating the Bloodhounds 3-0 (25-3, 25-15, 25-10).

Buzza led the Saints offense with 12 kills while classmate Rose added 17 assists.  First-year students Anna Kassab and Katie Prue contributed 14 assists and five aces, respectively.

The Saints recorded a .455 hitting percentage as a team against the Bloodhounds.

"We have a great test in our Tuesday match against a talented Clarkson program," Coach Roiger added.  "The team is excited about the rematch on our important Dig Pink event night."

The Saints will be back in action against the Golden Knights in the first annual Dig Pink Event at St. Lawrence University.  The game is scheduled to begin at 7:00pm in Burkman Gymnasium.
