(Clermont, Fla.)- The SUNY Canton softball team wrapped up their spring training trip on Friday and lost to Rochester Institute of Technology 5-3 and Ferrum College 17-5.
In the opening game against RIT, junior Andrea Rogers (Munnsville, N.Y.) belted a three-run home run in the first inning and also ripped a double. Senior Shiloh Bourgeois (Keesville, N.Y.) went 2-for-3, and senior Colleen Rivers (Bayshore, N.Y.), freshman Mariah Calhoun (Clayton, N.Y.) and junior Nicole Mulieri (Afton, N.Y.) all added singles.
Senior Tina DeLuca (Fresh Meadows, N.Y.) struck out four batters and allowed five runs on seven hits in six innings.
Rivers ripped a three-run double against Ferrum, finishing 2-for-3 at the plate. Bourgeois added a two-run double in the bottom of the fourth, and Mulieri and freshman Sharon Cordero (Goshen, N.Y.) contributed singles.
Junior Allie Gibson (North Tonawanda, N.Y.) surrendered eight hits and four walks, and freshman Ashley Merritt (Watertown, N.Y.) allowed 11 hits and five walks.
The Roos are next in action on March 11 when they play at doubleheader at SUNY Cobleskill.
