Canton, NY – Allison Wakefield made four saves as the SUNY Canton women's soccer team tied visiting Northern Vermont University-Lyndon 0-0 in double overtime in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action on Saturday afternoon.
SUNY Canton (3-9-1, 1-3-1 NAC) controlled a majority of the chances in the opening half as they held a 6-1 edge in corner kicks and 4-2 advantage in shots on goal but the teams headed to intermission scoreless.
The Roos had a golden chance 14 minutes into the second half when Jaedyn Ossont played a beautiful pass to Madison Rowe. She fired a shot that went just over the crossbar as Hornet keeper Lauren Young came charging.
With just under 10 minutes remaining the Roos had another quality opportunity but Young made a tremendous save on a Delanie Baker shot off a loose ball in the box.
Neither team could find the back of the net as the teams played to overtime. Three minutes into the second OT the Roos had a great chance off a Sarah Reidel cross but Young made a stop at the left post on a Kayla Phillips shot.
Wakefield made four stops for the Roos, while Young turned aside 12 shots for the Hornets (4-7-1, 1-3-1 NAC).
The Roos honored their three graduating players: Ryan Schubert, Jaedyn Ossont and Brooke Woodrow in a pregame ceremony on Senior Day.
The women's soccer team is back in action on Tuesday when it hosts its final home game of the regular season v. Oswego State at 5 p.m.
