Roos women’s lacrosse holds Wildcats scoreless in first half en route to 19-3 win on Senior Day

Canton, NY – The SUNY Canton women's lacrosse team outscored visiting Cazenovia College 10-0 in the first half on the way to its fifth straight victory earning a 19-3 win on Senior Day.

The Roos (9-5) received a hat trick from MaryClare Bowes and a pair of goals from Molly Denny while holding the Wildcats (2-10) scoreless in the first half.

SUNY Canton continued to fire on all cylinders tripling up Cazenovia, 9-3 after halftime.

Denny led all players with four goals and three assists, while Bowes finished with four goals and two assists. Allison Auger also recorded a hat trick, while Logan Bush totaled two goals and two assists. Katelynn Nutter and Carin Sherwood also found the back of the net twice each.

Amanda Woods tallied a game-high six ground balls and three caused turnovers, while Devin Kelly, Jessica Pele, Nutter and Auger all forced three turnovers each. Bush picked up a game-best five draw controls, while Woods and Katie Ferguson also scored.

The Roos dominated shots on goal (29-6) and ground balls (32-17) while going 15-for-18 on clear attempts and forcing 33 Cazenovia turnovers, 20 of which were caused.

Nicole Piskorowski made three saves in the win, while Amanda Drazek stopped 10 shots for the Wildcats.

The Roos honored seniors Katelynn Nutter, Allison Auger and Amanda Woods in a pre-game ceremony.

The women's lacrosse team is back in action on Wednesday when it visits Utica College at 4 p.m.
