Westfield, MA – The SUNY Canton women's cross country team bested 10 teams as it competed in its largest invitational in program history as 424 runners and 44 teams competed at the James Earley Invitational on Saturday.
The Roos were paced by freshman standout Samantha Smith (Mooers Forks, NY) who finished in the top 100 covering the 5 kilometer course in 20:55. Junior captain Keara Byrne (Queensbury, NY) was not far behind in 21:13, while Kimberly McCarthy (Ludlow, MA) turned in a 23:39 showing.
Rachel Youngers (Evans, NY) was the fourth Roo across the line in 24:28, while captain Laura DiFrenza (Salt Point, NY) clocked a time of 25:43 to round out the top five scorers. Tabitha Taylor (Ticonderoga, NY) posted a showing of 26:18 in her first race for SUNY Canton. Bri Herd (Rochester, NY) rounded out the competing runners for the Roos finishing in a time of 29:42.
