Canton, NY – The SUNY Canton women's basketball team roared back from a 15 point halftime deficit to take a four point lead late in the second half but a strong finish gave visiting Bard College a 54-48 win in the fourth annual Kevin Fee/Roos Classic on Saturday at the Roos House.

Despite the double digit halftime lead for the Raptors (1-1) the Roos showed their mental toughness outscoring Bard 33-14 over the first 16:01 of the second half. The Roos (0-3) owned a 48-44 lead with 3:59 remaining after a Logan Tallman (Heuvelton, NY) jumper in transition off a pass from Taylor Saltus (Clintonville, NY). Bard battled back with a strong finish to earn the victory

Brianna Sayer (Hermon, NY) finished with a game-high 15 points, all of which came after intermission. The junior captain shot 60 percent from the floor and 40 percent from three-point range over the final 20 minutes.

CaseyLynn Fulton (Saint Cloud, MN) and Karyss Terrance (Hogansburg, NY) posted 10 points each, while adding six and seven rebounds, respectively. Saltus added nine points hitting three of her eight attempts from long distance, while Tallman tallied a team-high four assists without recording a turnover.

SUNY Canton was impressive in the second half offensively shooting 45 percent from the field and 42 percent from three-point range, while outrebounding the Raptors 19-15 in the stanza.

The Roos return to the hardwood on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. when they square off with SUNY Potsdam. The Bears battled Alfred State College in the first contest on Saturday falling by a single point, 43-42. The Pioneers will play Bard College on Sunday at 12:00 p.m. in the Roos House.
