Canton, NY – Brooke Susac made a season-high 37 saves and Grace Page and Breanna Bedborough scored to lead the SUNY Canton women's hockey team to a 2-2 tie v. NCAA Division I Sacred Heart University on Saturday afternoon.

THE BASICS

Result: SUNY Canton 2, Sacred Heart 2, OT

Location: Roos House – Canton, NY

Records: SUNY Canton (4-4-3) | Sacred Heart (12-4-2)

HOW IT HAPPENED

Grace Page opened the scoring at 12:50 of the opening period when Lily Cullen deflected an outlet pass from the Sacred Heart defensive zone right to Page who lifted a shot over the glove of Pioneer net minder Sarah Erban. The goal was Page's second of the season as Canton led 1-0 after one.

The Roos doubled their lead at 12:21 of the middle period as Kelly Leathem hit Hannah Brady with a breakout pass at the blue line. Brady's initial shot was saved but Breanna Bedborough stuffed home the rebound at the left post over the stick side of Erban

With just under five minutes left in the second Brooke Susac made a great save stick side to deny Katie Stueve for the Pioneers and keep the two-goal lead. With 15 seconds left Kennedy Spiering hit the pipe as the Roos took a 2-0 lead after two.

Susac made 13 saves in the third period but Haley Payne scored a pair of goals including one with an extra attacker in a 4-on-4 with 44 seconds remaining to force overtime.

Susac turned aside all five shots she faced in the extra session, while Erban stopped the lone shot she faced leading to the tie.

Susac made a season-high 37 saves, while Erban stopped 21 shots for Sacred Heart.

Both teams killed off all four penalties they faced.
