Canton, NY – Sadé Rogers scored a team-high 13 points but a strong opening half carried visiting Maine Maritime Academy to a 64-48 victory v. the SUNY Canton women's basketball team on Saturday in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) play.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Rogers finished with team-highs of 13 points and four assists, while Tyberia Wallace recorded a season-best 12 points in just 10 minutes of action. Rogers went a perfect 6-for-6 from the charity stripe. Breanna Cullers chipped in nine points.

Canton led 7-5 early following a Jenifer Morgan-Aubin layup but Maine Maritime outscored the Roos 8-2 the remainder of the quarter to lead 13-7 after one.

The Mariners did their major damage in the second stanza outscoring Canton 27-11 to take a 40-18 lead into intermission.

Canton held the upper hand after halftime outscoring MMA, 30-24, including a 10 point advantage in the third quarter but the Mariners held on for the win.

Megan McLean led all players with 14 points and six assists, while Morgan Boudreau finished with 13 points including four three-pointers. Emily Melick and Melinda Ogden added nine and eight points, respectively.

Maine Maritime held the upper hand in points in the paint (30-8), second chance points (27-8) and points off turnovers (24-10).

The Roos return to the hardwood on Monday when they host Morrisville State at 4 p.m. in the Roos House.
