(Canton, N.Y.)- Austin Johnston (Auburn, N.Y.) scored two goals in the second half helping the Roos rally for a 2-1 win over the University of Maine at Presque Isle on Saturday.
Both teams had to battle nasty weather conditions including rain, wind and temperatures that dipped into the low 40s. But the Roos prevailed to earn their fifth straight win and move to 8-5-1 overall.
Jacob Paradis headed in a pass from Brandon Caverhill in the fifth minute of the first half that had given the Owls a 1-0 lead they held until the 69th minute before Austin tied the game with his second tally of the year. With 13:42 left in the contest, Austin connected again on the game-winning goal with an assist going to James Catillaz (Gansevoort, N.Y.).
Sankung Sillah (Bronx, N.Y.) had one save in goal for the Roos and Josh Mac Kinnon had seven for Presque Isle.
SUNY Canton is next in action this Wednesday, Oct. 5 when they host Morrisville State College on International Night at SUNY Canton. The Roos will be giving away 400 vuvuzelas, the horns made popular at soccer’s World Cup matches.
