Roos dominate RIT in 11-1 win

(Canton, N.Y.)- The SUNY Canton men's ice hockey team overwhelmed Rochester Institute of Technology Friday night as they posted an 11-1 win over the Tigers in an ACHA Division I and Eastern Collegiate Hockey League game at the Canton Pavilion.

The Roos improved to 7-0 in the ECHL and 18-4 overall.

SUNY Canton scored three goals in the first three minutes, including one just 39 seconds into the game on the opening shift. They also held the Tigers to just 14 shots on goal including two in the first stanza and killed off all five power play opportunites by RIT including a five-minute major in the second period.

Everyone got in on the scoring on Friday as eight different players recorded at least one goal. John Payne (Port Moody, B.C.),Chris Giczewski (Fountain Valley, Calif.) and Connor Every-Andrews (Summerville, S.C.) scored two goals apiece. It was Every-Andrews' first career goals and he also had one assist for a three-point night.

Darren Camp (Canton, N.Y.) and Eric Cook (Cary, N.C.) added a goal and two assists each. Payne also had two assists. Rob Liggio (Canton, N.Y.) and Corey Spuck (Rochester, N.Y.) each had a goal and an assist. Garrett Rosenbaum (Charleston, S.C.) had three assists and Dan Cibelli (Liverpool, N.Y.), Cory Giczewski (Fountain Valley, Calif.) and Cory Bercume (Potsdam, N.Y.) each had two.

Matt Cray (Merrimack, N.H.) improved to 5-0 with a 13-save performance.

Brendan Domos scored for RIT and Ian Harris and Brian Jascur combined for 24 saves.
