Freshman Bryan Palermo went three for four and scored three runs while classmates Khifer O'Connor and Zane Fish combined to drive in seven runs as St. Lawrence University's baseball team gained a second straight Liberty League doubleheader split at Union, winning game two 12-10 on Sunday.

The Saints, now 6-11 overall and 3-5 in league play are scheduled to begin a nine-game homestand with a Liberty League doubleheader against Rochester on Saturday.

The Saints bounced back from being held to one hit in a 6-1 game one loss with a solid offensive performance in game two. The Saints scored a dozen runs on 14 hits in the nightcap to give senior Matt Skelly the win on the mound.

In game one, Union freshman Andy Beaule held the Saints to a first inning single by Khifer O'Connor and the Dutchmen rallied for three runs in the fifth to overtake the Saints and head to their 6-1 win. Beaule walked two and struck out four, allowing just an unearned run in the bottom of the first as the Saints were the home team on Union's field on day two of the Liberty League doubleheader series.

The Saints scored their only run when Carter Franz led off with a fly ball which was misplayed in center for a two-base error. Franz scored on a sacrifice fly by Paul Piatelli.

Union scored on a passed ball, a wild pitch and a sacrifice fly against Saint starter Pat Considine in the fifth and tacked on three more in the top of the seventh  on Tyler Heck's run-scoring single and a two-run double by Fernando Gomez.

Considine went six innings and struck out ten, but walked six, surrendering four runs, three earned. Kyle Donaldson came on in relief and was charged with two runs.

SLU jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the bottom of the first as O'Connor hit a two run double and Matt DeLuca delivered a sacrifice fly. Union cut the lead to 5-4 with a four-run uprising in the top of the second, but the Saints took a 10-4 lead with another big inning in the bottom of the fourth. O'Connor hit a run-scoring single, Fish had a two run double and Ethan Braddock singled in two runs in that inning.

Union cut it to 10-5 in the top of the firth, but SLU answered when Palermo singled, stole second, went to third on a fly out and scored on O'Connor's sacrifice fly for a 11-5 lead.

The Dutchmen scored single runs in both the top of the sixth and seventh off Saint reliever Andrew Weitzel to cut the lead to 11-7, but the Saints made it a 12-7 game in the bottom of the eighth as Brian Magovney walked, stole second and scored on Fish's double.

Union rallied again in the top of the ninth, scoring three times before Joe Riley came on to get the final out of the game on a ground out.
