First year Grace King shot the two best rounds of her collegiate career and sophomore Laura Gay was within a stroke of her career best with a second round 76 to lead St. Lawrence University's women's golf team to a fourth place finish in the 2014 Martin-Wallace Tournament hosted by Cortland State on Sunday.
Ithaca won the tournament with a 627 total with Methodist second at 645, Cortland third at 571 and the Saints fourth at 686 in a nine-team field. SLU's Sunday total of 329 was the third best team score of the day.
King shot an opening 85 for her first collegiate sub-90 round and came back with an 83 on Sunday for a 168 total to tie for 14th overall and share the Saint lead. Gay, who had a 92 on Saturday, bounced back with the 76 and also finished at 168.
Sophomore Lexie Haehl shot rounds of 89 and 86 for a 175 total and tied for 23rd along with rookie teammate Hailey Wilson, who came back from an opening 91 with an 84 on Sunday. Natalie Squillace shot rounds of 97 and 86 for a 183 total and was 28th in a 52- player field.
The Saints will complete their fall season at the Williams Invitational next weekend.
