Anasco, Puerto Rico – The SUNY Canton baseball team dropped a pair of contests to Misericordia University and Susquehanna University in their final day of play at the Clemente Cup on Saturday.

The Roos dropped their opener of the doubleheader on Saturday morning 18-1 to Misericordia University. Trevor Keleher (Potsdam, NY), Mike McGinn (Palmyra, NY) and Chris Roenbeck (Plattsburgh, NY) each registered a hit for the Roos. Roenbeck led SUNY Canton with seven putouts at first base, while Francesco Palumbo (Canton, NY) recorded three in center field. Chris Lee (Brooklyn, NY) took the loss giving up six earned runs over two innings.

SUNY Canton got the scoring started in the fourth inning. Jeremy Baez (Bronx, NY) led off with a single through the left side and Brandon Welch (Constable, NY) followed suit on a hard hit ball between the third baseman and shortstop. A two out single from Travis Schindler (West Islip, NY) to right center scored Baez to give the Roos the early lead.

The Crusaders (5-6) responded with four runs in the bottom of the fifth. Bryan Palsi, D Jenkins and Tom Giaimo all produced RBI singles, while Jenkins later scored on a wild pitch.

Khalil Bratton (Queens, NY) gave up four earned runs over four and two-thirds innings, while striking out seven batters and walking three.

This concludes play for the Roos in the inaugural Clemente Cup.
