Rivenburgh posts first double-double as Roos women's basketball cruises to 79-49 win

Randolph Center, VT – Billie Rivenburgh posted her first collegiate double-double and two other Roos scored in double figures as the SUNY Canton women's basketball team cruised to a 79-49 victory v. host Vermont Tech on Wednesday.

The Roos (5-8) jumped out to a five point lead after the first quarter but outscored the Knights (3-12) by 13 points in the second quarter to take a commanding 37-19 lead into intermission. Six different Canton players had at least four points in the opening half paced by seven from Randi Conway as the Roos held the hosts to just 21 percent shooting in the opening 20 minutes.

Antanasia Chambers and Rivenburgh both scored in double figures in the second half alone as Canton cruised to the lopsided victory.

Chambers and Conway paced Canton with 15 points apiece, while Rivenburgh added 12 points and 10 rebounds. Tatiana Laroche chipped in seven points and 10 rebounds, Alauna Wright hauled down eight boards and Taylor Saltus dished out a game-high five assists.

Mariah Rilling and Shannon Cookson led the Knights with 12 and 11 points, respectively.

The Roos shot 46 percent as a team from the field and dominated the glass, outrebounding the Knights 44-19. Canton had 12 offensive rebounds which led to 15 second chance points, outscored Vermont Tech 18-0 in the paint and had the upper hand in bench points, 40-14.

The women's basketball team is back in action on Friday when it visits Pine Manor College at 4 p.m.
