POTSDAM, N.Y.—The SUNY Potsdam women's soccer team (7-3, 0-2 SUNYAC) erased a 2-0 second half deficit with two goals in two minutes before falling to SUNY Cortland (7-2, 3-0) 3-2 on Friday afternoon. Junior forward Jaci Morr (Monroe, Mich./Monroe) and sophomore midfielder Brooke Falsion (Brockport, N.Y./Brockport) each scored for the Bears.

The contest opened with good back-and-forth play over the first 15 minutes. Slowly the Red Dragons gained the edged and Potsdam struggled to break loose. At the 21:39, sophomore forward Amanda Profera (Wantagh, N.Y./Wantagh) launched a rocket from about 20 yards out. The ball hit the crossbar and dropped down into the net for a 1-0 Red Dragons lead. The Bears responded with two strong chances after the goal. With 17:25 to go in the half, Potsdam junior midfielder Amanda Lingenfelter (Alexandria Bay, N.Y./Alexandria) broke free on the right side. She fired the ball from in front of the net all alone, but Cortland senior goalie Victoria Barclay (Holbrook, N.Y./Sachem North) dove to her right to make the save. Roughly seven minutes later, Bears sophomore forward Olivia Seamans (Bolton Landing, N.Y./Bolton) beat a defender and ripped a shot on goal, but again Barclay made the save. The Red Dragons took the one-goal lead into the break.

Cortland picked up momentum again as the second half progressed. At the 60:34 mark, senior midfielder Mersadiz Hayes (Syracuse, N.Y./Bishop Ludden) finished a cross from freshman midfielder Stephanie Sheridan (East Islip, N.Y./St. John the Baptist) to make it 2-0 Red Dragons. With things looking bleak, Potsdam answered three minutes later with two goals in 2:19. At 63:14, sophomore midfielder Rylie Murray (Berkley, Mich./Berkley) passed the ball to Morr in the left corner. She weaved her way through a couple defenders and beat Barclay to her right. In the 66th minute, senior captain Kaylen Van Wagner (Red Hook, N.Y./Hotchkiss) sent a corner kick toward the far left post. Falsion was waiting for it and knocked it home to knot the score at 2-2. Over the next 10 minutes, Bears senior goalie Bri Thibeau (Salem, N.Y./Salem) stopped two free kicks to keep the contest even. In the 82nd minute, Profera sent a cross from the right side of the box and freshman midfielder Gabrielle Mudaro (Farmingville, N.Y./Sachem East) was there to net the eventual game-winner. Potsdam kept battling and with just under two minutes remaining, Falsion broke free and drove a shot over Barclay for what looked like the game-tying marker. However, she was ruled offsides and the goal was waved off.

In goal, Thibeau stopped seven shots for the Bears, while Barclay made three saves to earn the victory.

The Bears will host Oswego tomorrow afternoon at 1 p.m. At halftime, Potsdam will recognize its Hall of Fame Class of 2016. Cortney Poirier-Graney '10, David Dragone '98 and Jedidiah Hammill '03 will be inducted tomorrow night at 6 p.m.
