Oswego, NY – The SUNY Canton men's lacrosse team got off to a slow start and couldn't overcome the deficit in a 21-6 loss to host Oswego State on Wednesday.

The Lakers (6-6) held the Roos scoreless for nearly the first 20 minutes of the contest opening the game scoring the first 11 goals of the contest. Oswego State led 6-0 after the first and it was a Garrett DiTullio (Potsdam, NY) marker with 5:36 remaining in the opening half that got SUNY Canton on the board. Tanner Pratt (Canton, NY) scored three straight Roo goals and Trevor Wight added his third of the year in a man-up situation. SUNY Canton tallied four of the final five goals of the stanza to trail 13-5 at intermission.

The three lone third quarter scores all went to the hosts as they regained an 11 goal advantage after three periods. Devin Gruneisen (Potsdam, NY) beat the opposing goalie for the fourth time this season early in the fourth quarter as Oswego State cruised to the 21-6 victory.

Pratt led the Roos with three goals and an assist, while Ryan Cardiff (Albany, NY) assisted three scores. Jack Keenan (Brasher Falls, NY) picked up a game-high six ground balls.

Dylan Dix (Rochester, NY) got the start between the pipes making 11 saves, while Jeff Hammond (Rensselaer Falls, NY) stopped two shots over the final 10 plus minutes in relief. Bryan Martin picked up the win for the Lakers turning aside four shots, while Kyle Wright and Troy Calkin saw time in relief.

The men's lacrosse team will look to get back in the win column on Saturday when it hosts SUNY Institute of Technology at 1:00 p.m.
