Potsdam, N.Y.—The State University of New York Athletic Conference has named SUNY Potsdam junior hockey player Trevor O’Neill (Bobcaygeon, ONT/Stouffville Spirit) the Goalie of the Week.
O’Neill stopped 30 shots in the Bears’ home opener, a 4-2 victory over Morrisville. The win snapped Potsdam’s three-game losing streak and gave the Mustangs their first conference loss. The junior has provided the Bears with consistently strong goaltending this season, posting a 2-2 record in four starts. O’Neill has also compiled a .903 save percentage and 3.36 goals against average.
Potsdam (2-3, 2-3 SUNYAC) continues its eight-game home stand this weekend against western N.Y. rivals Fredonia and Buffalo State on Nov. 19-20. The Bears face the Blue Devils (2-5, 2-3) on Friday and the Bengals (2-2-1, 2-2-1) on Saturday. Both games are scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
