OSWEGO, N.Y.--- The SUNY Potsdam men's soccer team (4-7-1, 0-5 SUNYAC) fell to the Oswego State Lakers (4-6-1, 1-4) 1-0 on Saturday. Oswego scored early in the first half and was able to keep the Bears off the board for the remainder of the game for the 1-0 victory. Junior goalkeeper Jakeb Mitchell (Brockport, N.Y./Brockport) finished with five saves for the Bears. Lakers goalkeeper Brian Terra had five saves in the shutout as well on the afternoon.
The Lakers goal came 3:42 into the game when Anthony Paris scored on the assist from Jack Van Pelt. The Bears struggled to create chances in the first half and the score was unchanged after 45 minutes
The Bears generated more opportunities for themselves in the second half with three shots and four corner kicks early, but the Lakers reacted well to the pressure by the visitors. Terra stopped a chance from Bears junior forward Alejandro Callejas (Brentwood, N.Y./Brentwood) with just over four to play and Potsdam was unable to threaten again.
