OGDENSBURG -- A total of 136 entries competed in the 8th annual Sandbar Classic Fishing Derby held Hosmer’s Marina Sunday.
The Ogdensburg Parks & Recreation Department’s derby is sponsored by Homer’s Marina, Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center, The Dirty Gringo, Larry’s Taxidermy and the family of the late Al O’Marah.
“We had a lot of big fish brought in despite the really warm and humid weather we had. What I really liked was the number of fish that were released back into the St. Lawrence to be caught again,” said Matthew Curatolo, Parks & Recreation Director.
All of the entry fees received went back to the winning anglers. First place received $285; second place won $185; third place won $100.
