CANTON -- Northern TRIBS Swimming raised nearly $10,000 for the club in its annual Swim-A-Thon fundraising event in Canton last Saturday.
Club President Joshua Jock said 28 members completed the 200-lengths (5,000 yards) for time plus another 11 completed the 10 & Under 1-hour swim for distance.
The fastest swimmer, Paul Braun of Lisbon, swam 200 lengths in 1:45:39. Sydney Rochefort of Massena swam the furthest distance for the 10 & Unders, going 3,300 yards in one hour. The swimmer who collected the most pledges to support the club was Katie McGrath of Potsdam.
In addition to raising funds for the team, 5 percent of the money will go to the USA Swimming Foundation, “which works to strengthen the sport of swimming by saving lives and building champions—in the pool and in life,” said Coach Jock.
