No. 19 Saints women's cross country compete at Paul Short Invitational

The nationally-ranked No. 19 St. Lawrence University women's cross country team raced in the gold competition of the 2011 Paul Short Invitational on Friday in Bethlehem, PA. Senior co-captain Jenna Hulton led the team in the multi-divisional event with a time of 22:34.

The Saints were one of only two Division III schools entered in the gold race along with nationally-ranked Johns Hopkins. St. Lawrence finished in 40th place out of 45 teams, defeating Division I schools including Coastal Carolina, the University of Delaware, Western Carolina, Winthrop University and Virginia Commonwealth.

Jenna Hulton was the top St. Lawrence finisher in 129th position, followed by her sister Megan in 201st place with a time of 23:13. Sophomore Amy Cymerman, senior co-captain McKayla Nuffer and junior Jackie Lemme rounded out the scoring for the Scarlet and Brown.

Sophomore Toria Koutras and junior Caroline Raue also competed in the gold race for St. Lawrence.

Providence College won the team title with 101 points, followed by Villanova, Syracuse, Georgetown and the University of Virginia. Mimic Bogdana of Villanova won the race with a time of 20:10.

The Saints will be in action again next weekend when they host the 2011 Hoffman Invitational/Pre-Regional at the Ronald C. Hoffman cross country course. The event begins at 11:00am on Saturday, October 8.
