Rensselaer's Peter Nilson connected with a 34-yard field goal as time expired, lifting the Engineers to a 24-21 victory over Hobart College on Saturday in Troy, NY. The Hobart loss clinches at least a share of the 2010 Liberty League championship for St. Lawrence. With all tie-breakers in their corner, the Scarlet and Brown are assured of a bid to the 2010 NCAA Tournament, the first for the program since 1982.

Despite a loss to Rochester on Saturday, victories earlier in the season over Hobart, Merchant Marine and Rensselaer guarantee St. Lawrence (4-5, 4-1) of the conference title. Earlier in the day, both the St. Lawrence University volleyball team and the men's soccer teams won their respective Liberty League championships.

The Saints will be making the program's fourth NCAA Tournament appearance in program history. The team qualified for the event in 1976, 1978 and 1982. However, this is the first automatic qualifier in school history.

St. Lawrence will host WPI on "Senior Day" next Saturday, November 13 at Leckonby Stadium. Kick-off between the Saints and Engineers is slated for 12:00pm.
