Nationally-ranked Knights women's hockey and Terriers faceoff at Cheel - "Skate With a Knight" on Friday

Winners of three straight games and coming off an impressive series sweep on the road, the Clarkson University Women's Hockey team faces a stern test this weekend at Cheel Arena when the Golden Knights host 6th-ranked Boston University in a pair of non-league match-ups. Games times are 3:00 p.m. both Friday and Saturday.

Fans of the defending NCAA National Champions will get to meet the players up close and personal during the annual "Skate With A Knight" event, which will immediately follow Friday's contest.

Guided by seventh-year head coach Matt Desrosiers and first-year assistant coaches Meghan Duggan and Britni Smith, the Green and Gold stand at 3-1 overall and are ranked seventh in the national polls. Since allowing five goals in the season opening loss at St. Lawrence on October 3, Clarkson has outscored the opponents 10-1 in the last three games. This past weekend in Rhode Island, the Knights skated to a pair of shutouts over Hockey East's Providence College, winning 5-0 and 3-0.

Boston University continues a season-opening six-game road trip in Potsdam this weekend after playing at the University of Minnesota on October 3-4. The Terriers skated past St. Cloud State 5-2 in their season opener before falling to top-ranked Minnesota by the same score on the following day. Last Saturday, BU fell to the Boston Blades 5-3 in exhibition play.

• Freshman goaltender Shea Tiley (Owen Sound, ONT) benefited from a strong defensive effort in front of her and made the key saves when needed to pick up the road shutouts. Named ECAC Hockey Goaltender of the Week, Tiley posted14 saves in Saturday's win and followed with 22 more in Sunday's white-wash. Through just under 210 minutes of playing time to start her collegiate career, Tiley has allowed just two goals on 70 shots. She posts a .971 save percentage and a 0.57 goals against average. She is ranked fifth in the nation in both save percentage and GAA.

• Junior Cayley Mercer (Exeter, ONT) leads a young Clarkson squad up front in scoring with six points on three goals and three assists. Named ECAC Hockey Player of the Week, Mercer tallied four points in the sweep of

Providence, including a pair of goals in Saturday's win.

• Sophomore Genevieve Bannon (Candiac, QUE) also enjoyed a four-point effort against the Friars, including two scores in Sunday's victory. Bannon (3-1) is tied with junior captain Shannon MacAulay (Mt. Herbert, PEI) (3-1) and senior Christine Lambert (Thetford Mines, QUE) (0-4) as the Green and Gold's second-leading scorer with four points each.

• Junior defender Erin Ambrose (Keswick, ONT) a Top 10 Patty Kazmaier Award finalist and a 2014 first-team All-America, headlines the Clarkson defensive effort, which is allowing only 20 shots per game. The assistant captain has tallied three points (1-2) in the early going and is closing in on the coveted century mark with 89 career points on 21 goals and 68 assists through 75 career games.

• Daniella Matteucci (Fruitvale, BC) is enjoying a strong start to her senior campaign with three assists from the blueline.

• Brielle Bellerive (North Vancouver, BC) leads the Knights' rookies in scoring with two assists.

• Clarkson has been especially productive with the man-advantage and is ranked third in the country on the power play, clicking at 38.5% (5-13). The Knights have killed off eight-of-nine opponents' power plays (88.9%).

• Clarkson and BU have played five times with the Terriers owning a 2-1-1 advantage in the series. In their last meeting, BU knocked off the Knights 5-3 in the NCAA Quarterfinal round on March 16, 2013 in Boston.
