Sophomore Julia Mulhern scored in the 100th minute to lead the St. Lawrence University women's soccer team to a 2-1 overtime win over Bard in Liberty League play on Friday afternoon in Annandale-on-Hudson, New York.
With the win, the Saints improved to 7-1-3 on the season and 2-1-2 in conference play, while Bard fell to 4-7-1 and 0-5-0.
Katie Clemmer kicked things off for the Saints with her fifth goal of the season with a long ball deflected from the wing, which she sent to the far post, giving the Scarlet and Brown a 1-0 lead in the 40th minute.
Dylan McDonald put the Raptors on the board, evening the score 1-1, with a one timer in the box just before the end of regulation.
Just before the first overtime was about to expire, Julia Hill sent a cross into the box for Mulhern, who sent a shot past Raptors' goalkeeper Abigail Stanley for the win. Mulhern recorded her third game-winning goal on her fourth goal of the season.
"I thought we deserved the win in the end," said head coach Sinead McSharry. "We kept our class throughout the game in a tough environment, but we have to hold ourselves to a higher standard and each other accountable for consecutive sloppy episodes of play. I'm very proud of the heart and desire they showed on the field today."
Bard was led by McDonald with one goal and three shots on goal.
Samantha Allen made four saves in goal for the Saints, while Stanley finished with five.
Bard edged the Saints 12-10 in shots, but the Saints held a 7-5 advantage in shots on goal.
St. Lawrence will face Vassar in Poughkeepsie, New York tomorrow afternoon at 2 p.m.
