Senior Kyle Miller had a game-high 19 points, including 4-of-7 from behind the three-point line, while junior Payton Stahler had a game-high ten rebounds, seven points and two steals.
Mount Saint Mary, which held a 33-23 advantage at the half, was led by juniors Donte Howell and Joe Stabach who combined for 33 points.
The Saints cut the deficit to eight points (55-47) with under 3:00 left in regulation when Miller made three free throws after being fouled on a three-pointer attempt. However, the Knights made two free throws and a pair of layups down the stretch for the 61-47 win.
St. Lawrence will look to rebound from today's loss when it takes on the non-advancer from this evening's other first round game between US Merchant Marine Academy and the University of Rochester. Tip-off is scheduled for 1:00pm in Rochester, NY.
