Senior co-captain Nyasha Miller recorded her 1,000th career kill in the Saints 3-1 loss to St. Michael's College on Saturday afternoon.  The Mt. Kisco, NY native totalled 28 kills on the day and becomes only the third player in the program's history to surpass the 1,000 kill milestone.

St. Lawrence (5-4) could not pull out a win in the second day of the Victory Promotions tournament as it fell to St. Michael's in four sets (20-25, 25-22, 25-17, 25-20) before dropping another 3-1 decision to Hamilton College (26-24, 20-25, 25-20, 25-21) in the second match.

Despite taking the first set and having a lead in the remaining sets, St. Lawrence had trouble cracking the St. Michael's front line that posted 14 total blocks and 50 kills for a .307 hitting percentage.  Though playing an overall better match against Hamilton, the Saints struggled to finish, while the Continental middle hitters generated a consistent offense that was coupled with nice plays defensively.

Offensively for the Saints, seniors Marta Johann and Liz Grogan recorded 15 and 11 kills on the day, while classmates Ali Limoncelli and Katherine Pierce each chipped in nine kills.  Pierce, primarily the Saints' defensive specialist, stepped into the setter role and tallied 60 assists on the day, as well as 28 digs.  First-year student Katy Litka finished with seven kills.

Miller led the Saints defensively with 30 digs.  Limoncelli, who had a strong presence at the net all weekend, tallied four assisted blocks and five service aces on the day.

The Saints will look to snap their three-match losing skid when they travel to Potsdam State on Tuesday, September 13th.  The match is scheduled to begin at 7:00 pm.
