Meng, Curry Lead Saints Nordic ski team to fifth at UVM

Lawrence University's Austin Meng and Kyle Curry each earned top-20 finishes in the 10k Freestyle race at the 2015 University of Vermont Carnival on Friday at the Trapp Family Lodge in Stowe, VT. The duo helped the Saints men's Nordic team to fifth place overall in the team standings, just six points behind Williams College for fourth.

Meng paced the Scarlet and Brown with a 12th place finish for his seventh career top-12 showing. The Truckee, CA native, who was 11th amongst NCAA competitors, was followed by Curry in 19th position. It was the second straight top-20 showing for Curry, whose previous best had been 25th. Calvin Swomley completed the team's scoring in 30th place for a total of 69.0 points, helping St. Lawrence stay ahead of Harvard and Middlebury.

Will Frielinghaus was 39th overall, followed by Isaac Wright in 50th place. Philip Marshall (54th), Morgan Holland (57th) and Sean Delaney (72nd) also represented St. Lawrence in the opening event of the UVM Carnival, which was won by Dartmouth College thanks to individual winner Patrick Caldwell.

Erin Perryman was the top Saints skier in the women's 5k Freestyle in 25th position for 18.0 points, her third career top-25. The West Lebanon, NH native was joined in the scoring by Kate Mulcahy (48th) and Dana Hatton (80th) for 33.0 points, good for 10th in the team standings.

India Harvey (84th), Taren McGray (85th), Elizabeth Landry (94th) and Emma Greenough (103rd) also competed for the Saints on Friday. The team title was won by the hosting Catamounts of UVM, while individual honors went to New Hampshire's Annika Taylor.

St. Lawrence will compete again tomorrow, Saturday, January 24 in the 15k/10k Classic races at UVM
