Cazenovia, NY – With 15 3-pointers and 23 offensive rebounds, the Clarkson University Women's Basketball team ended the first semester with some momentum, gaining an 87-55 victory over Cazenovia College on Saturday afternoon.

The Golden Knights moved to 3-4 on the season and are off for the next three weeks through finals. The team will pick up play at the end of December with a road trip to Western New York.

The Green and Gold scored 48 points in the second half, including a 22-6 advantage in the fourth quarter to pull away for the lopsided win.

Clarkson started off slow, trailing for all of the first quarter with a deficit as large as six points. It wasn't until the second quarter that the Knights took their first lead at 7:34 when Claire Flannery hit a pair of free throws. Clarkson lost that lead briefly, though it recovered to tie the game on a couple of occasions. Molly Stewart's 3-pointer at the 4:07 mark gave the Knights a 26-23 lead as Clarkson finished off the half with a 16-6 run, capped by an Emily Zeyak layup with five seconds to go.

Clarkson shot just 12-for-42 in the first half, but the team rallied to shoot 50.0% in the second half (18-for-36), with nine makes coming from beyond the 3-point arc. Cazenovia kept it close in the early going of the third, scoring the first eight points of the period to cut the deficit to just two, and the Wildcats were still down by just three (45-42) at the midway point of the quarter. In a span of just two minutes, however, Clarkson went on a 10-0 run to extend its lead back to double figures. That lead ballooned in the early moments of the fourth quarter as Clarkson rattled off 12 more points to begin the period, pushing its advantage to 28 points when Maddie Pratt finished off a pass from Claire Flannery at 5:56. A minute later Cazenovia got its first points of the fourth, but by that point the Knights were cruising to the win.

Sophomore Rachel Marion scored a career-high 22 points, shooting 5-for-7 from beyond the 3-point arc, while Molly Stewart added a near double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds while also chipping in four steals. Carly Assimon also came close to a double-double with 13 points and eight assists while Kati Gotch scored six points and grabbed a team-best 10 rebounds.

For Cazenovia, Danielle Caivana had 21 points, shooting 8-for-17 overall with four 3-pointers. Alexis Tubbs also recorded double digits with 15 points.

Clarkson committed just nine turnovers in the game and owned a 56-36 edge on the glass with 23 offensive rebounds. The Knights also shot 39.5% from the 3-point line, making 15 of their 38 tries.
