Freshman Brian Magovney hit a two-run homer as part of a four-run seventh inning rally to help St. Lawrence to a 6-3 win over SUNY Oswego in its 2011 home baseball opener on Tom Fay Field Tuesday afternoon.

The Saints, now 4-9, trailed 3-0 after the top of the third inning, but scored twice in the bottom of that inning and then staged the game-winning rally in the seventh to drop Oswego to 8-3 on the year. Saint relief pitchers Andrew Weitzel and Kyle Donaldson combined for six and two thirds innings of scoreless relief with Donaldson picking up his second win of the year.

Oswego opened the scoring when Dan Maloney scored on a bases loaded double play in the top of the second and Tyler Baker hit a two-out double to right center for a second run off Saint starter Ian Anderson. The Lakers added a run in the third when Ed Charles led off with a double and scored on Dan Erne's single.

The Saints came back with two in the bottom of the third with a two-out rally as Magovney singled off Laker starter Mark Schaper and Paul Piatelli was hit by a pitch. Third baseman Khifer O'Connor then doubled down the right field line to drive in the two runs.

Carter Franz started the decisive seventh inning rally as he was hit by a pitch by Schaper and Magovney followed with a line drive home run over the left field fence to make it a 4-3 Saint lead. Piatelli then singled and went to second on a throwing error and O'Connor hit his second run-scoring double of the game to make it 5-3. Bryan Palermo laid down a bunt single and Taylor Engle was hit by a pitch to load the bases with Rob Carman hitting a sacrifice fly to drive in O'Connor with the sixth Saint run.

Donaldson, who took over from Weitzel in the top of the seventh,  worked out of a bases loaded jam in the bottom of the eighth and walked one and struck out three to improve to 2-0 on the season.

The Saints will return to Liberty League action at Union Saturday and Sunday.
