A solid team effort led the St. Lawrence University women's basketball team to a 73-35 victory over Albany College of Pharmacy on Saturday at the RIT Tournament.
The Saints improve to 2-0 on the season while the Panthers fall to 3-1.
"I thought we played really well today," said Coach Dan Roiger. "Our goal is to improve with each and every game. We definitely played better and smarter than we did on Tuesday. We were excellent on the boards which allowed us to get our fast break going."
St. Lawrence, which had a 41-14 advantage at halftime, was led by first-year student Kelly Legg with a double-double. The Fairport, NY native recorded 13 points and 10 rebounds, while adding three blocks and three steals.
Sophomore Erica Spera's efforts on the boards and helpside defense also helped set the tone for the victory. The Binghamton, NY native added nine points, seven rebounds, two blocks and three steals.
"Erica played great for us today," added Coach Roiger. "I thought it was the best game she has played in a Saints uniform."
Junior co-captain Katherine Edgerton, sophomore Erica Spera, and first-year student Cassie St. Hilaire also added nine points apiece.
The Saints will battle the tournament host RIT tomorrow, November 21st. Tip-off is scheduled for noon.
