Firmly established as one of the best players in Women's NCAA Hockey, Loren Gabel is making a strong case to be mentioned as a Top 3 Patty Kazmaier Finalist, and being named as the Hockey Commissioners Association National Player of the Month for January certainly adds to her resume.

A junior left wing from Kitchener, Ont., Gabel led the nation in points per game (2.71), goals per game (1.57) and game-winning goals in the opening month of 2018. She recorded an ECAC Hockey best 16 points and 11 goals in January, and tallied at least one goal in each of the seven games of the month.

Gabel was named ECAC Hockey Player of the Month for January, the third time this season she has been awarded the league's monthly honor, also being recognized in October and December. She was named twice in January as conference Player of the Week (1/23, 1/30) and named once as NCAA 1st Star of the Week (1/23) and once as NCAA 3rd Star (1/30).

Gabel has continued her hot hand into February with four points (2-2) through the first two games of the month and extended her goal-scoring streak to nine games.

Gabel has tallied 58 points through 30 games, and is one goal shy of tying Clarkson's single-season goal mark of 29 set by 2014 Patty Kazmaier Award winner Jamie Lee Rattary '14 in 2013-14. She ranks seventh on the all-time Clarkson scoring charts with 127 career points on 68 goals and 59 assists through 111 games.

Ranked #1 in the USCHO.com poll, Clarkson takes the nation's longest current winning streak on the road this weekend, playing ay at Princeton and Quinnipiac. Winners of 15 straight, the Golden Knights own a 26-3-1 overall record and stand in first place in ECAC Hockey at 16-2.
