Schenectady, NY - An overwhelming shot disadvantage in the second half wasn't enough to keep the Clarkson University Women's Soccer team from summoning up some good luck as the Golden Knights scored on their lone shot of the final 45 minutes to tie 16th-ranked Union College, 1-1, in Liberty League action Saturday afternoon.

The Golden Knights moved to 7-4-1 overall on the season and 1-4-1 in conference games. Union entered the weekend with just a single loss on the season, but left it with a 12-2-1 record overall and a 2-2-1 mark in the Liberty League. Clarkson will host Skidmore College next Saturday as the team celebrates its senior day at the Clarkson Grass Field.

Clarkson hardly sat in awe of Union in the first half on Saturday, coming away with a 6-4 edge in shots after the first 45 scoreless minutes. Following the halftime break, however, the Dutchwomen asserted themselves offensively with a 15-1 edge in shots. Fortunately for the Knights, not many of those attempts were on the Clarkson frame as freshman goalkeeper Kim Kenline made six saves in the game, just her second career start in goal for the Green and Gold. Union did sneak one in during the 58th minute, as Laura Snowden scored off a rebound from a shot by Jen Mansfield, giving the Dutchwomen the 1-0 edge. With such an offensive push continuing through the half, it appeared as if the Knights would come up short. However, the Knights were able to score the equalizer late in the second half when Marissa Cook (Chateaugay, NY) took a deflection and scored inside the near post at 80:33, unassisted.

After the flurry of shots in the second half by Union, the 20 minutes of overtime were fairly quiet, with the Dutchwomen out shooting Clarkson 1-0. Union finished with a 20-7 edge in shots and a 7-2 lead in corner kick chances. Kenline finished with six saves and Union's Mia Simone made three saves.
