Auburndale, FL - Thirteen different players stroked a hit and 11 drove in a run as the Clarkson University Baseball team scored its most runs in a game in nearly seven full seasons as the Golden Knights piled on the runs in a 21-3 rout of Salem State.
The Golden Knights closed out their Florida trip with a 4-4 record, while Salem State fell to 2-3.
Clarkson scored three times in the first and four times in the second to take a 7-0 lead. The Vikings ended the shutout in the fourth with a run, but the Knights tacked on two in the bottom of the inning and then put the game away with seven in the sixth inning and five more in the eighth.
David Kinney (Mexico, NY) went 4-for-6 and drove in five runs to highlight the day for Clarkson. Freshman David Wixted (Ballston Lake, NY) was 2-for-4 with three runs scored and two driven in and Chris Falteisek (Baldwinsville, NY) went 3-for-4 with two runs scored before leaving with an injury. Justin McInerney (Grand Island, NY) also was 2-for-5 with a pair scored and two more RBIs.
Bryan Chudy (Goshen, NY) went six innings, allowing five hits while striking out three. McInerney tossed two innings, allowing a run and striking out a pair, while Kinney finished off the contest with a single scoreless frame, striking out two.
