Potsdam, NY – For the first time this year, the Clarkson University Men's Soccer team could not find any magic in the final moments or overtime, instead dropping a 2-1 overtime decision to Skidmore College on Wednesday evening at Hantz Turf Field.

In the 94th minute, Isaac Myran scored his second collegiate goal to give the Thoroughbreds the win. The Golden Knights dropped to 9-4-1 overall and 3-3-1 in Liberty League play, while Skidmore improved to 7-4-3 and evened its mark in league games at 3-3-1.

Skidmore got its first shot in the opening three minutes, but would be held without another scoring attempt for the remainder of the half as the Golden Knights controlled the play, quickly countering on every opportunity. Midway through the half, Clarkson connected as Mack Walton recorded his third goal of the year. Walton possessed the ball near the top of the penalty box and took a shot with his left foot, but it was slowed by a deflection. Stephen Klimek collected the errant ball near the end line and passed the ball back out in front to a now open Walton at the six, and the sophomore dropped the ball into the back of the net at the 27:25 mark.

Clarkson held a 5-1 advantage in shots in the first half and a narrower 2-1 lead in corner kick chances, but the second half saw Skidmore even up the tempo and ball possession. The Thoroughbreds enjoyed some better scoring opportunities in the second half and tied things up in the 62nd minute. Isaac Myran controlled a bounding ball and carried possession up to the midway point on the left side of the penalty area, finding Ben Caples with a square pass in front. Caples had two defenders in front of him and appeared ready to take a shot at the far post with his right foot, but instead turned around and caught the defense off guard with a groundball just inside the near post at 61:50 for his third goal of the year.

The Knights had two good chances in the final 14 minutes as Stephen Klimek's hard shot in the 77th was denied by Sebastian Bosch and Drew Lewis's attempt with less than four minutes to go hit the post.

Less than two minutes into the first overtime, Caples took another hard shot from about 18 yards out, but Clarkson goalkeeper Riley McDonald dove to halt its progress. However, the Knights weren't so lucky 90 seconds later. After the Thoroughbreds passed the ball around in their own defensive end for a few moments, a long pass found Isaac Myran with a one-on-two opportunity. Myran deked one defender and then carried the ball in on a one-versus-one chance and found an opening with a quick shot, delivering a hard grounder into the net at 93:14 to give Skidmore the win.

Clarkson finished with a 16-10 edge in shots and a 3-2 lead in corner kick chances, but the shots on goal were considerably closer, as the Golden Knights led in that category just 6-5. McDonald made three saves in the game for the Knights and Bosch stopped five shots for Skidmore.
