Allowing only one goal over 180 minutes of action this past weekend, the Clarkson University Men's Soccer team was sure to get recognized for its great start, and the Liberty League rewarded a pair of Golden Knights in Michael King (Verona, NJ) and Kevin Calnan (Winchester, MA) on Monday with its first round of weekly honors.
King, named Liberty League Defensive Performer of the Week, allowed just the one goal in two starts over the weekend, posting a 0.50 goals against average and a .923 save percentage. Versus Moravian College, King needed to make just a single stop in a 2-0 win, but the sophomore was called upon to make 11 saves in a 2-1 victory over Cortland State on Saturday. Calnan, the Liberty League Rookie of the Week, made a solid first impression in his first collegiate weekend, assisting on a goal against Moravian and scoring the opening marker versus Cortland State. He currently is tied for the team lead in goals, assists, and points.
