New London, NH - Junior Chrissy Scanlon (Queensbury, NY) scored the first eight points of the game Friday evening as the Clarkson University Women's Basketball team jumped out to an early lead, but Colby-Sawyer was just too strong as the hosts finished with a 82-62 victory at the Colby-Sawyer Tip-Off Tournament.

The Golden Knights saw their record evened at 1-1 overall on the young season and will face Suffolk University at 1:00 pm on Saturday afternoon.

The Golden Knights remained in front for the first nine minutes until a layup by junior Kaitlin Fifield (Warner, NH) gave Colby-Sawyer a 16-15 lead. The teams traded hoops for the next five minutes before the Chargers ended the half on a 16-4 run to lead 38-25 at the break.

Colby-Sawyer stayed in control in the second half and led as many as 23. Sophomore Taylor DeSanty led the Chargers with 17 points, while senior Katelyn Stravinsky chipped in 13. Sophomore Cailin Bullett had eight points and eight assists, while Fifield just missed a double-double with 13 points and nine rebounds.

Clarkson was led by Scanlon’s double-double, including a career-high 21 points and 10 rebounds. Senior Lauren Pluchino (Liverpool, NY) added 13 points, including 3-3 from beyond the arc, and six rebounds. Junior Carey Turner (Clifton Park, NY) also tossed in nine points.
