Saratoga Springs, NY - A second-half goal by Matt Wolff was all that Skidmore College would need as the Clarkson University Men's Soccer team fell 1-0 in Liberty League action Saturday afternoon.
The Golden Knights dropped to 4-10-1 overall and 2-5-0 in the Liberty League, effectively ending the Green and Gold's chances at a Liberty League playoff berth. Though Clarkson appears mathematically still alive, even with every scenario going the Knights' way, they would lose all of the Liberty League's tie-breakers. Skidmore stayed alive in the conference race, moving to 6-10-1 overall and 2-4-1 in league play.
Skidmore's goal came in the 64th minute as Wolff was able to tally his first goal of the season. Adam Beek sent a cross into the box, finding the head of Wolff as he dived to make contact.
Junior Scott Stuart (Ottawa, ONT) made two saves for the Knights in goal, while Nick Peterson made four saves for Skidmore. The Thoroughbreds held a 14-11 advantage in shots and the two teams each had five corner kick opportunities.
