Kasson wins two events at Saints' men's holiday relays

Scott Kasson won both throws, Gordon White won the long jump and Nick Crawford won the 400 meters as St. Lawrence University's men's indoor track and field team opened its season with a win in the Saint Holiday Relays at the Newell Field House on Saturday.

The Saints finished with 169 points with Ottawa second with 141, Plattsburgh third with 95, Carlton fourth with 43 and Algonquin College fifth with six points.

Kasson won the shot with a throw of 13.99 meters with Dylan Babcock finishing second and Kasson threw the weight 15.00 meters with Bryce DeBoer finishing second. White won the long jump with a 6.49 meter mark while Crawford won the 400 in 50.15 seconds and also ran on the winning 4x200 relay team. He was joined by Travis Hamre, White and Harrison Stivers as they won in 1:31.74.

The Saint 4x400 relay team of Connor Heaney, JooWon Ma, John Gillooly and Jack Martin was second while the Saint Distance Medley Relay team of Evan Page, Mark Jannini, Will Bronner and Zane Belden finished third.

Will Merchant was second in the pole vault at 3.50 meters while Logan Mancuso was second and Jon Mitchell third in the 3000. Sebastian Quintilliani finished second in the triple jump while Rajiv Heron was third in the 60 meters, Jack Martin third in the 800 and Hamre finished third in the 200.

The Saints will return to action on Jan. 16 for the Saint Indoor Invitational.
