(Burlington, Vt.)- The SUNY Canton women’s ice hockey team lost to the University at Buffalo 7-4 Friday night in the opening round of the Catamount Challenge hosted by the University of Vermont in Burlinton.
Sophomore defenseman Devyn Hutcheson (Oswego, N.Y.) and freshman defenseman Stephanie Hyde (Massena, N.Y.) scored two goals apiece to lead the Roos (3-13-1). Both players now have five goals apiece this season.
Freshman Victoria Taylor (Hokah, Minn.) had 15 saves and freshman Alyssa Altschuler (Cheshire, Conn.) had 14 in the combined effort in net.
SUNY Canton will face the University of Colorado on the second day of the tournament Saturday night.
