Buffalo, NY - Senior forward Jonathan Hood (Cortlandt Manor, NY) set another career-high in points, scoring 23 points and eight rebounds for the Clarkson University Men's Basketball team in a 88-73 loss to Medaille College Monday evening.

The Golden Knights closed out the first semester with a record of 5-2 overall while the Mavericks improved to 6-3.

Clarkson scored the first basket of the contest, but never led again after that first bucket as Medaille scored six straight points and pushed their lead to double figures for the majority of the half. The Knights responded early on in the second half, cutting the Mavericks lead to a single point on two occasions, but Medaille went on a 27-12 run over a 10-minute span and closed out the Knights by a 15-point margin.

Hood shot 8-for-12 in his game-high 23 points, while classmate Rey Jefferson (Budd Lake, NJ) added 18 points, with four 3-point field goals included. Freshman Marques Charlton (Deer Lake, NY) had his best game of the season, scoring 12 points on 4-for-5 shooting before fouling out.

Ron Malicki scored a team-high 19 points for Medaille, ledaing four players in double figures. The Mavericks shot 19-for-22 from the free throw line and turned the ball over just 11 times compared to Clarkson's 19 miscues.
