POTSDAM, N.Y.--- The SUNY Potsdam men's soccer team (4-8-1, 0-6 SUNYAC) fell to the SUNY New Paltz Hawks (9-4-2, 4-2-1) 4-0 on Friday. Sophomore midfielder Kevin Doorley (Pearl River, N.Y./Pearl River) had it going all afternoon (Pearl River, N.Y./Pearl River) with three goals for the Hawks. Down 2-0 at the half, the Bears opened the second half with more opportunities, but the New Paltz defense made it difficult for the Bears. Potsdam couldn't stop Doorley as he scored two more goals in the last 45 minutes.

The first goal of the game came at the 9:39 mark when Doorley took advantage of a turnover and cut through the Bears defense in transition. He then lined up a perfect kick to give the Hawks an early 1-0 lead. New Paltz extended its lead shortly after a corner kick by senior midfielder Nick Honor (S. Setauket, N.Y./Ward Melville). Senior defender Sebastian Gordon-Somers-Archer (Forest Hills, N.Y./The Kew Forest School) was able to to win the header and score again for the visitors. The Hawks defense was able to frustrate Potsdam throughout the half and the score was unchanged at the break.

Potsdam opened the half with a great opportunity when senior midfielder Tyler Mullery (Holtsville, N.Y./Sachem East) had a good look, but was robbed by Hawks sophomore goalkeeper Marc DePasquale (Huntington Station, N.Y./Walt Whitman) in the 55th minute. At the 71:24 mark, Doorley showed great composure with a Bears defenseman trailing him, drawing out Bears junior goalie Jakeb Mitchell (Brockport, N.Y./Brockport), which led to the easy right footed finish and the 3-0 lead. About nine minutes later, Doorley finished the hat trick and closed the game's scoring on a tap in assisted by senior midfielder Victor Dowsley Lifschitz (Rio De Janeiro, Brazil).

Mitchell finished with two saves and three goals allowed in the first 77:02 and freshman Conor Callan (Piermont, N.Y./Tappan Zee) stopped two shots and allowed a goal in the last 12:58. DePasquale earned the shutout with one save.

The Bears look to bounce back tomorrow as they host the Oneonta Red Dragons at 1 p.m.
