Lisa Grohn and Megan Kellogg finished first and second with nearly identical times to lead the 24th-ranked St. Lawrence University women's cross country team to first place at the Ronald C. Hoffmann Invitational, hosted by St. Lawrence University on Saturday afternoon.
Grohn covered the six-kilometer course in 21:54.36, with Kellogg just 0.33 seconds behind, as both had average mile splits under 5:53. The duo's times are the eighth and ninth fastest times ever run on the Ronald C. Hoffmann course, with Grohn dropping 21 seconds off her time from last year, and Kellogg dropping five seconds.
SUNY Plattsburgh's Lauren Perschetz was third, 49 seconds behind in 22:43.71.
The Saints won the five-team invitational with 25 points, while Plattsburgh was second with 53 and Clarkson was third with 78,
Caroline Driscoll was fourth for the Saints, finishing in 23:13.90, dropping a whopping 1:06 off her 2015 time, while first-year Leah Livernois was sixth in 23:19.58 and Marla Davidson was 12th in 23:40.67, 15 seconds that her time last year. Sarah Moon (17th, 23:53.09) and Ashley Leta (19th, 24:04.58) rounded out the Saints' top seven.
The Saints head to Bethlehem, Pa., for the Paul Short Run at Lehigh next weekend.
