Canton, NY – Ashley Gillies scored her fourth goal of the season but Samantha Shoebottom found the back of the net twice to lift NCAA Division I Sacred Heart University to a 3-1 win v. the SUNY Canton women's hockey team in non-conference action on Friday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Sacred Heart got on the board first at 16:24 of the opening period when Kelly Solak found Samantha Shoebottom out in front for her eighth goal of the season.
The Pioneers extended the lead to 3-0 with a pair of third period goals roughly three minutes apart off the sticks of Shoebottom and Lilly Cleary.
Ashley Gillies got Canton on the board on her fourth goal of the season at 14:45 of the third period off the setup from Sarah Kosnaskie on a 2-on-1. Kosnaskie's initial shot was saved before Gillies put home the rebound near post.
Brooke Susac made 19 saves in the loss, while Sarah Erban turned aside 16 shots in the win.
Both teams' penalty kill units went 4-for-4 in the game.
