GENESEO, N.Y.—With two 47-point halves, the SUNY Geneseo Knights (4-4, 2-1 SUNYAC) topped the SUNY Potsdam men's basketball team (4-4, 1-2 SUNYAC) 94-72 on Friday night. Junior forward Dante Langley (Schuylerville, N.Y./Schuylerville) scored 20 points to lead the Bears.

Knights junior guard Quinn Carey was the main force early, scoring six points during their contest-opening 10-2 run. Potsdam brought it back with a couple of threes from sophomore guard Aaron Armstrong (Libson, N.Y./Madrid-Waddington) and junior forward Nosa Onabor (Brooklyn, N.Y./Northside Charter). Geneseo then made another quick push, but four Bears scored to narrow the gap to 23-19 with 7:01 left. Freshmen Colby Simpson (Queens, N.Y./Queens H.S. of Teaching) and Tyreke Guthrie (Portmore, Jamaica/Springfield Gardens) each had three points during the stretch. The Knights ended the final seven minutes outscoring the Bears 24-14, including 9-for-10 from the charity stripe. Carey added eight more points. Langley was the top scorer during the span for the Bears with five points, while junior guard Andrew Hoag (Hoosick Falls, N.Y./Hoosick Falls) had three. Potsdam entered halftime trailing 47-33.

Similar to the first half, Geneseo started the first four minutes with an 11-3 run with Carey scoring twice beyond the arc. Potsdam answered back with a 12-6 stretch to cut the deficit to 66-48 with 11:59 to play. For the next eight minutes the teams alternated scoring, but the Knights finished with a slight 21-17 edge. Langley had eight points, including two 3-pointers in the span. After the Bears cut the deficit to 18 with 2:35 to go, Geneseo answered a final time with a 7-0 push to secure a 94-72 victory.

Both Armstrong and sophomore center Kristoff Saunders (Queens, N.Y./Queens High School of Teaching) finished with eight points and five rebounds, while Guthrie put up seven points and grabbed the team-high six boards.

Carey ended the game with 20 points, going 4-for-6 from beyond the arc for the Knights. Senior forward Jordi Menkhorst had 12 points and a pair of blocks, while sophomore guard Tommy Eastman recorded a double-double with 10 points and 11 boards.
